This weeks match preview by Dave Smith Saturday 15th March 2014 - Kent Invicta League - Hollands & Blair (home) This week’s game will not need any hyping up as this is without doubt the biggest game of the season for both sides in respect to the league campaign. Due to our visitors participation in various cup competitions over recent weeks it has enabled us to become the league leaders taking over from our visitors who had held the position for a lengthy period so an added ingredient today is that the winners will top the league and head into the remaining games with destiny in their own hands. We have already meet each other 4 times this season due to unfavourable cup draws. We did manage a rather fortunate league victory back in August by 2-1 we then lost the KST Trophy tie 4-1 after extra time and then lost both games in the 2 legged league cup 3-2 and 4-1. In all of these games I. Tthought Hollands and Blair certainly showed why they have achieved so much over recent seasons. They are without doubt the best side in the league and have been one of the best since the league was introduced. They are the benchmark for all teams and I feel we are certainly heading in the right direction. We have improved massively over the last 15th months but this in my eyes this is just the start to really putting Lydd Town FC firmly on the football map. So a game both sides will want to win but whatever the result today the race for the league title won’t be over as there is still plenty of football to be played by all the sides and I am sure there will be a few unforeseen results along the way. Our squad for this game will be at full strength and will be selected from the 18 player’s available, not easy and disappointing for some but again any success at this level will be achieved with a squad and not just a team.
