This weeks newsletter ... Hello You I hope you are well, that you have had a nice relaxing weekend and are ready for some fun exercise this week. One of the most important updates is that from next week we are swapping Zumba Toning for Kettlebells. This was a very tough decision for me to make. I love the ZT class and particularly the people that have been coming to it for so long. The thing is, for a long time now I have been trying to get Kettlebells back onto our timetable. The reason I have swapped them? The simple and honest truth? Kettlebells is waaaaaaaay more effective than ZT !! Dont get me wrong, ZT is good but it is more cardio based and what i think you guys really need is a weight based class. The reason I think this? Well its because i know so many of you would like to be firmer and look better in your clothes. Resistance training is the best way to do that. In addition for the hour you in invest in a KB class youll get 24hrs of increased metabolism back. Whereas with ZT once the class is over the after-burn is minimal. Muscle is the only metabolically active tissue on our body ( the only thing that requires calories). Unfortunately as we age we lose muscle year on year ( reducing our calorie requirements... that mixed with hormones is the reason for the middle aged spread phenomenon). Added to that if you try a low calorie diet without resistance training your body will also begin to metabolise (eat) your muscle tissue, the only thing that was burning the calories. Thats why when you stop dieting you put on weight so quickly, it is because your metabolic requirements ( amount of muscle) has gone down. In addition resistance training will help protect your joints and prevent injuries, Anyway ... its turning into one of my rants again! The bottom line is i believe that the best exercise for health, fitness and fat burning is a mixture of High intensity intervals ( MetaFit) Weights (Kettlebells) and low impact cardio ( Zumba) That said, in my mind, you are my customers and you are the boss!! So please let me guide you to try KB and if you really dont like it, we can swap it back! ( This will be based on a majority vote!) So the new KB class starts next Monday 6.30pm at Heles School. The first class is half price at just £2 !! Here is link to book in events.constantcontact/calendar/monthview?llr=ginn6aeab&eso=001pW5B_ZsWw23mit1995k0Mg== You will need your own kettle bell for this class i do have a couple spare but not enough for everyone. I suggest a 2KG for complete beginners, 4KG normal 6KG pushing it 8KG hardcore! Classes this week All classes are running as normal this week. Wednesdays classes at Heles will be downstairs in the gym as there is a function in the hall. PowerJump My goal in powerjump is not to let it get stale and to keep challenging the body. Be prepared for some new little challenges over the next couple of weeks. I cannot believe how many of you have been telling me about weight loss, inch loss and dropping dress sizes without changing your diet. Jumping is really amazing. I would love to share your story with others so if you would like to share please email me your experience [email protected] I read an articel today that said if you feel a cold coming 10 minutes gently jumping can stop it developing !! Horrah to that!!
