This weeks package has come as a whole: BOCH DEVOTIONAL: There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Hebrews 4:9-11 I personally believe it would have been much easier for Paul to tell the Hebrews what they needed to do in order to find rest , because it was already written in their law in detail with examples. But Paul was saying that this kind of rest they were following was just a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ (Colossians 2:7). The idea here is that the kind of rest we have in Christ is not one we labor to get, but to enter. In other words, this rest is a place, a place we come into, no requirements, everything has been done so that what remains is to enter in, and when we enter, we have ceased from our own works. Consider Paul did not say “he also must/should/will cease from his own works, as God did from his”, but that “he also hath ceased from his own works...” This is why He actually did not say labor to cease from works, but that labor to enter into that rest, because when you enter into that rest, you have ceased from your own works. You dont need a seven steps guide on how to be at rest, as long as you have come into that place called rest, you cease from your own works. A certain man of God said that “resting is the best way to honor God,” you see because then you come into agreement with heaven that God is actually in charge. God is not working with you, He is working in you! - there is a difference. When a man is trying to work out his own rest, thats when he has the idea of God working with Him! But when you enter into Gods rest, you cease from your own works, so that all the works that then proceed froth from you are actually the result of God working in you. This is the kind of life Jesus lived: Remember how He spoke of doing the works of the Father and speaking the words of the Father. Jesus was at rest while the Father worked in Him and did the very works that men saw. That is how he was able to heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers and so forth so easily. You see He knew that it was the Father working all the while. And that is how we ought to operate. We ought to bring ourselves to remembrance always that all we do, it is actually the Father working in us all along. We heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out devils because all the while the Father is working in us. Not because we fasted enough, or Prayed enough, or gathered up enough Faith. In the place of rest into which we have come, it is no longer us that live, but Christ that lives in us and the life we live even in the flesh we live by the Faith of the Son of God. So you see even the Faith we use for all these things is not our own, but of the Son of God. That is why we rest assured that things always work for our good because, God never fails, and Hes the one that works in us. Have this mindset in all you do – ALL - , know that it is all God working in you, and if he is the one working then it also stands true that nothing can fail you. Know that now that you are in Christ, you are in that position of rest, all things are working for you not you for them – ALL THINGS
