This year celebrating its 20th year, the Belfast Telegraph Sports Awards programme will also feature a special One-Off Trophy for Northern Ireland’s top sporting hero of the past 20 years. The overall winner will be invited to collect their unique accolade at the Gala Awards Ceremony. which will be held in Belfast on January 26, 2015, A judging panel has shortlisted Northern Irelands top 20 sports stars The twenty nominated are - George Best, Peter Canavan, Darren Clarke, Peter Doherty, Joey Dunlop, Carl Frampton, Mike Gibson, David Healy, Alex Higgins, Paddy Hopkirk, Pat Jennings, Jack Kyle, Dave McAuley, Willie John McBride, Tony McCoy, Graeme McDowell, Barry McGuigan, Rory McIlroy, Sean O’Neill and Dame Mary Peters. As a preview “Sporting Snippets” is asking members to make their selection of their top THREE and post them on here….. It will be interesting later on to see how our Poll compares to that eventually produced by the general public! Incidentally - just as a side-line - is there anybody YOU would have had on the TOP TWENTY List whose names is not there already?????
