This week’s restaurant profile takes us to Maudies Tex Mex, right here in our hometown, Austin, TX. Originally called Maudie’s Café, the restaurant dates back to the 1950s when it served good old fashioned home cooking. In the early 1990s, Joe Draker heard a voice call out “Hey, you wouldn’t wanna buy a cafe, would ya?”…and the rest is history. Joe changed the menu to Tex-Mex while keeping a few old favorites like hamburgers, and has since expanded the business to seven Austin area locations, winning numerous awards for his food and margaritas along the way.
