This whole altercation about the pet-a-dog event is silly. Of course its a golden opportunity for everyone to show how righteous they are at the expense of the participants. Its haram to touch dogs for no reason? Who says theres no reason? Because if you come to places like Vienna and people bring their dogs into buses, trains and trams, you do not want to be making a scene screaming and jumping from shock. In Vienna, at least there is a ruling to muzzle big dogs and leash every other. In some other places, they run free. Regardless, I love it when politicians start using phrases like worm-infested brains. Someone should really organize a learn how to say what you want to say for them.
