This whole bus-cam issue has brought up another point about riding buses in Taiwan, something Ive noticed rather regularly since I got my yo-yo-ca. Its the driving style: instead of maintaining a steady throttle position during open stretches of road many drivers accelerate and decelerate in a pulse-like motion. It feels as if theyre really trying to make the passengers vomit, drop their phones, lose their balance walking up the aisle, and leave the bus feeling like sailors coming ashore after a rough sea journey. I wouldnt remark on it except that it seems fairly common, which makes me wonder if its part of Taipeis bus driver training? Maybe theyre told its better for the engine?
