This will be one big status from me and Nora, so take your time - TopicsExpress

This will be one big status from me and Nora, so take your time and read through -- thanks! Overnight we had a post asking how to find lower priced Nora/JD Robb books for Kindle. Lots of excellent suggestions about using the Overdrive app to borrow from a librarys e-book collection, or just using the library for actual books. Commenters left links to Amazons list of free books. There were suggestions of used book stores and website. In general there were some really fine -- and helpful -- suggestions. When Nora posted that she doesnt have a say in pricing, nor does she write books that are for free -- and THEN suggested using the libarary, most understood what she was saying, but there were a few very offended -- and strident -- commenters who posted she shouldnt have answered like that. Social media is an anonymous world. I get that many feel they know an author simply because they read the authors books. But honestly, you know the authors work. Not the person. If Nora takes the time to stop working an answer a question or make a comment, its going to be brief, to the point and not wasting anyones time. After all, isnt the number one request on this page for Nora to write faster? Complaints about how she phrased the comment, instructions on how she can reply, anything along those lines are just plain unacceptable. And will be gone. Ive moderated this page since 2010, when it was me and about 100 readers. Deleting and banning people is a very serious thing in my book -- used sparingly for five years. But no more. This is a place for quick engagement -- fun conversation and updates, not torches and pitchforks and judgment. We try hard to respect everyone and all I ask is the same in return. ~Laura From Nora: When I respond to a question or comment here, its generally going to be very brief. I am unlikely to add a thanks for reading my books here, or hope you enjoy my books, etc. Its FB, and Im going to answer the question quickly, and honestly, as politely as possible and as clearly as I can. Some questions asked would take a page to answer thoroughly or completely. I cant do that here, so I find the best way I can to keep it FB brief. To those who decide its all right to call me cold, harsh, mean, heartless or anything along those lines because theyre putting their own spin on my words, or dont like the answer, decide how I could or should have responded, Im going to say this. I dont throw those words at readers, and Im not going to tolerate having a poster throw them at me. Theyre hurtful. Think about it: The cold, harsh, mean and heartless wouldnt take a minute to respond to a post in the first place. NR
