This will be really really long but I think a good read. Please take some time. It was a long prep this year. I had a constant internal battle with myself... Not with following diets or killing workouts but with if my heart was really in this sport. I faced defeat for the first time as a bodybuilder and It was sour tasting. Though being nationally qualified I almost felt it was awarded by default. The show I had my eye site on all year slipped out from my grasp... So needless to say it wasnt my best season. And as I sat there yesterday disheartened and self-pitying I looked around and saw all my wonderful teammates and their faces of excitement or joyous laughter for just being there. Just making it where many will never say they will go and it brought me back to reality a bit. If you dont love the sport you can never live this lifestyle. Because its not about placing or size of my trophy on one night of the year but the beautiful journey to get to stage itself and all the many faces along the way. With that said I have some people to thank (I know this is already a book but keep reading): Id like to thank first Chris Carter and Debbie Bramwell-Washington my trainer and posing coach for their help in preparing my best package ever, but also the care they have shown in my dark days of not only prepping but personal situations. They truly are fine people and care for their athletes. My teammates, all of whom I am truly proud of. I am so thankful for your encouraging words in my times of doubt and the camaraderie you exude. This also is extended to the new faces I have met this year and have lifted me with their kind words of encouragement (these people are tagged at the bottom and surely not all of them as I am either forgetting some or cant find you in my list of friends to tag-- specifically Melissa Fanning and Michael Barefield can someone tag them?!?!) a special thanks to Michelle Thompson Owen fir all she did not only for me but for every athlete. This woman has the kindest heart and delivers the best tan for competitors and all too often goes unrecognized Im sure. Thank you for being so patient and detailed in your work. Thanks to my friends from back home Patrick Robinson Chuck Edlin J.r. Miller Chris Robinson Blake Harris Zac Burkhart for keeping together the group text messages for the laughs and confidence boosts. Pat it was great to compete with you this year brother. Thanks to my loving mother Carolyn VanBruggen for all the talks in times of joy and stress alike. To her and my father both thanks for always being there. And for paying for the monster pizza last night haha. Finally thank you to my BAE. My Before Anyone Else : Brittany Mack my heart and backbone this year. While taking on her first season of competing this amazing woman somehow found it in her heart to fall in love with me. She stuck it out by my side though I was not the best to or for her at times she never lost faith in me or drifted from my side. Unmatched commitment to me. And though I was terrible to deal with during my own prep she stuck around to shoulder my problems as well as her own. It wasnt always pretty but we survived it. I promise it is smooth sailing from here babe. I could not be more proud to say shes mine and Im so madly foolishly in love with her. Thank you #teambrohn
