This will most certainly warm Rev Japhet Ndlovus heart. I was invited to be Guest of Honour at todays Silver Jubilee (25 years) celebrations of the existence of Lubuto Reformed Church in Zambia in the heart of the compounds of Ndola. I attended it with my lovely wife. It was a very colorful ceremony and very well organized indeed. It was characterized by much vernacular singing and dancing by as many as eight choirs and two praise teams. You just have to love the way these vernacular church members both young and very old sing and dance at these occasions! Rev. Chrispine Chiundaponde preached an excellent gospel sermon from 1 Samuel 7. Japhet may remember some of the names present? General Seceretary Rev Dr William Zulu; Ndola Presbytery Moderator Rev Caleb Mwanza; Kabushi RCZ Secretary Rev Alfred Ngoma (the first missionary worker for KBC John Laing work in Lusaka) The three founding Ministers of Lubuto RCZ in respect of order in which they served: Rev. Tellas A Shumba (now in Lusaka), Rev. Chrispine Chiundaponde (now in Kabwe) and now Rev. Aston Tembo current presiding Minister. My wife and I noticed that the church tended toward a rather Charismatic mode of worship than I remember them for, but then I havent been to an RCZ service or event in over 20 years. In 25 years they have increased in number; built very vibrant ecclesiastical structures in the compound it seems to me; put up a lovely if mundane church structure; put up a manse on site; built a security fence around both and are looking to do much more. Very encouraging indeed!
