This will probably me the last of my treasures from the Word for a while as we are off now to Russia etc. However I will resume when I can and when we get back. Mickeys Daily Bread Proverbs Ch. 27 Proverbs 27:1 1 Boast not yourself of to morrow; for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Today is the day the Lord has made not tomorrow. How good it is to enjoy today and not worry about tomorrow though we need to plan and as James says James 4:14-16 14 You do not know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes 15 For that you ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16 But now you rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Proverbs 27:5 (KJV) 5 Open rebuke is better than secret love. This can be a hard one to fulfil as on one side we can feel if we rebuke someone we love we might lose their love and friendship. Also that we might be being judgmental knowing our own weakness. However if we truly love we will graciously rebuke that which is wrong. Proverbs 27:14 14 He that blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him. Mike and I were in Haiti some time ago staying in a small but very” Christian area.” We wakened at 4 am by the sound of someone walking down the street crying out in French. Mike asked one of the others sharing the dorm who was also wakened what was going on. As he spoke French he listened and said “it is the call to pray” Mike not being very sanctified at 4am.responded by quoting this verse. This chapter contains a few proverbs about the value of a good friend here is one of them Proverbs 27:17 (KJV) 17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. One of the blessings Mike has is to meet with a group of leaders on a Thursday morning for a time of prayer and discussion. Some of the group have sometimes strong and diverse ideas and perspectives on Scriptures but despite this they all have a strong respect and love for each other and they to do fact fulfil this word of sharpening each other. It is good to be able to disagree with someone and still remain friends.
