This will sum it up for education in the state of Florida: I was watching the news this am, and there is a report that to due low school scores some schools are gonna have longer school days for a intensive reading program for students with low test scores. This program insures the regular curriculum is not effected, I am also sure teachers and administrators receive no extra pay. So heres the kicker, when interviewing some parents, they were upset and also believe this will make their kids mad, because they have to stay in school an extra hour a day. This ladies and gents is the problem with education not the system, yes there are flaws in the system, but as a whole it is not broken. These parents should be encouraging and work with the teachers to make their children better students. It is truly baffling the way some people think, our education is the best thing we can get when young, and guess what its free all that is ask of our children is to pay attention, do your homework, study for test, and be respectful to your teachers and peers, all while sitting in an air conditioned building. I wish I could go back so many times and do it the right way, it was not until I was a parent that I realized the value of an education, I struggle daily to understand some people. To all me friends that are teachers, thank you for the job you do, you are so under appreciated, yours is not an easy job with these challenges.
