This woman was camping out on property owned by L Denaples. If anyone here knows him can you inform him of this situation? He might want to help. Please give him the opportunity to do so by sharing this information with him. Thank you My Thanksgiving message to all of you, This year involves a special event for my family, my friends and me. About a week ago it was brought to my attention that there was a woman with a small dog, living in a tent nearby. She had been there for the last three years. This is North Eastern Pennsylvania with all kinds of weather. Behind some trees on a well traveled road she was tucked away from traffic and making do with what ever she could find. She has a broken wheelchair which she uses to push her daily needs and her dog along until nightfall when she went back to her tent. I saught her out, wanting to give her gift cards for the local Grocery Store, CVS, and Dunkin Donuts, knowing that if she was a paying customer she would be allowed to come in out of the weather, and use the bathroom. It took a couple of tries but I found her wearing layers of shirts sweaters coats, and at least three hats. I observed her as she took such good care of this little dog, showing it love, I knew it was her baby. Carefully she opened a sandwich and every bite she took the dog had a bite too. I cautiously approached her, not wanting to scare her. A conversation took place, she was very friendly, smart, sharp, and the fragrance of baby powder was all around her. I gave her the gift cards and when I shook her hand I could tell those were the hands of a hard life. I was overtaken with the urge to help her. I made a FB page, friends stepped in to help with clothing, dog food, sweaters and coats for the dog, food and so on. Tuesday I took her to fill out the necessary paperwork for emergency housing, but it will take time especially with the holiday. Then there was news of a snow storm heading our way for Wednesday. One friend offered her credit card for a hotel room, another wanted to help pay too. I found her with her dog, at her tent, the snow started to come down. Convinced her to get into my truck, I took her for a quick breakfast and then to the hotel, checked her in, and immediate needs were met by all my friends, wonderful people. I thought she was going to cry when she saw the bathtub, she had been washing in restroom sinks when ever she could. I sat and knitted while she took a hot soak and renewed her spirit. Wearing fresh clean new clothes and a big smile she emerged from the bathroom. I ordered a salad and pasta lunch delivered to the room and as usual, the first bite was shared with the little dog. I woke extra early this morning, my turkey is in the oven, all the sides are prepared for their turn on or in the stove. My two youngest sons and I will have Thanksgiving Dinner at noon. They will do all the after dinner clean up. I will make two big plates with all the fixings, wrap them up and go to the hotel, with my knitting of course. Her and I will have Thanksgiving Dinner together; she will not be alone, hungry or cold today. The room is paid for at least until Monday, it will take beyond that to get her into housing. I must thank friends Gemma Rosato, Chele Marie , Brenda Fuller, Joe Nordone, and Beth Thursby because without their help there is no way I could have done so much in so little time. But now I am asking everyone to reflect on what Thanksgiving is really all about. Say a prayer, think about it, and I hope you feel the urge to help. A Go Fund Me page has been made; I pray that you can find it in your heart to make a donation of any amount you can afford. We want to keep her out of the weather until a more permanent home is found. Once we obtain housing we will find among us furniture, linens, cooking and eating utensils and so on. Please consider clicking SHARE. Let us all be thankful for what have and please join us in this effort, you will feel the blessings. gofundme/hv7kds
