This wonderful video is making the rounds on Social Media, so I thought Id weigh in. Not only does it offer some interesting philosophical and technical insight into the process of creating a complex creative product (in this case a Disney animation), but also offers insight into how those same artists interpret the world as individuals. In a way, an interesting study of Fine Art as individual expression vs the need for commercial art to leverage the technical prowess of each artist to create a consistent and coherent product within a singular visual voice. To me, the video indirectly demonstrates how no style is correct but rather philosophical points of view prevail when personal expression is on the line, and technical proficiency takes the stage when the need to play a role in a bigger, more complex creative project (such as a video game, animation, or interaction design project) arises. The video uses an interesting analogy of playing a solo in an orchestra. Watch through to the end for a wonderful philosophical pointer on thinking like a painter! hedonistica/art-and-design/four-disney-background-artists-paint-a-tree-in-their-iconic-styles/
