This work owes a great debt to Dr. Eric Williams watershed study: CAPITALISM AND SLAVERY, first published in 1944 and reissued in 1994 by The University of North Carolina Press: Chapel Hill. Dr Williams lived as a victim of the legacy of capitalism, colonialism and slavery in Trinidad. Through much suffering and sacrifice on the part of his family he earned degrees at Oxford University before assuming a teaching post at Howard University. He gave that honor up to return to Trinidad to fight for its freedom from British Colonialism and Imperialism. Dr Williams, the author of five significant works, served as Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago from 1961 until his death in 1981. When Dr. Eric Williams first published the same ideas set forth in this new study, he, too, met a firestorm of criticism from British and American academics, statesmen and was even a target of the CIA. Nevertheless he endured and succeeded in working for the transformation of his nation. The struggle continues! The people united will never be defeated, but we must watch (read-study-agitate), fight (agitate-argue-refute error and propaganda in the schools and the media-be unrelenting-be consistent-fill the electronic social media with the truth as we know it before government and global corporate capitalism makes this impossible), and pray (center yourself in the revolutionary creative Spirit of life who prioritizes human beings as HIS CREATION over things and profits and acquisition and whose essence is love, joy and peace for ALL). God is indeed the God of the oppressed and marginalized. The spirit of Freedom and Truth in the world is Gods Spirit. Those who oppose that Spirit do not oppose us, the oppose God. Pray for them that they will join us--that we will live as ONE.
