This world tells us the path to success is to "try harder or do more" But that path is nothing more than a treadmill that will wear out our hearts and lead us nowhere. How can we Love someone on purpose? Be a Volunteer! Read Heathers letter on her experience here at the New Beginnings Thrift Boutique My volunteer experience at New Beginnings Thrift Boutique has been one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of my life. I moved to Somersworth in January and stumbled upon New Beginnings. I had stopped in last year to ask for directions and was instantly attracted to the vibe of the shop and the personalities of the employees. Only after going back to the boutique to do a bit of shopping a couple of months later did I hear of the boutique’s mission. I applied to be a volunteer and was immediately accepted into the group by the others working in the shop. During my time at the boutique, I have been witness to things that I would likely not have been seen without being at the boutique. I have seen the effects of kindness on the lives of those given up on by society. I have seen social outcasts welcomed with open arms. I have seen a hug brighten a person’s day. I have seen battered women and children clothed and fed. These acts of joy and kindness had a great impact on me and caused me to reevaluate both my life choices and my life goals. Since starting at the boutique, I have been motivated to volunteer in other ways. Through the boutique, I have begun volunteering at the Seeds of Faith Food Pantry in Rollinsford, NH and the House of Hope Soup Kitchen in Berwick, ME. I was inspired by the kindness and self- lessness that I experienced daily through the actions of Theresa and the volunteers I met at New Beginnings Thrift Boutique. As I embark on my next adventure, I know that I have formed life-long bonds with those I met at New Beginnings. I will never forget the memories that I have been blessed enough to create with all of the wonderful people I have met in the volunteer community. Thank you all for everything, and God bless.
