This year marks round three in a battle between two groups seeking to run Edison’s annual India Day Parade. The Township Council last week granted the Indian Business Association a permit for the parade. Edison Mayor Antonia Ricigliano and her administration have already granted Oak Tree Indian Business Association Inc. (OTIBA) a parade permit. For years, the parade has brought as many as 35,000 people to Oak Tree Road in Edison and Woodbridge each year to celebrate India’s independence from British rule on Aug. 15, 1947. This year’s parade is set for Aug. 11.
