This year through Intel we selected Presbyterian Connected Care as our health insurance provider. They are fairly progressive in that they have electronic medical records with patient portal access to appointments, records, labs, etc. The plan is designed for the patient to use Pres providers and they require the establishment of an in-network PCP. Today, after 2 days of searching I was connected via phone to a representative whose job it is to assist with this task. Who knew. She notified me that basically none of the physicians I had selected from the website are accepting new patients as a PCP, but an internist who is joining the group will accept me. Woohoo. She got her MD from Pakistan and just finished her internal medicine residency 3 years ago. How much do you think shell know about ME/CFS/Fibro??? I feel like I just exerted a lot of energy on an exercise in futility since the provider who treats me every 3 weeks for Lyme and heavy metal toxicity, and the DOM who provides my acupuncture, and the chiropractor and massage therapist who provide pain management etc. are not able to serve as PCPs will do more for me than this doctor likely ever will. I dont mean to sound negative, and I am keeping an open mind that she may be an asset to my team of providers, but the jury is out, and in reality I have only seen a regular doctor once in several years for an acute bladder infection. Just ranting and wondering if anyone else feels this way?
