This year was my first Friendship games. I can honestly say that I never truly knew what Friendship games was about before. I did not know what all the hard work everyone was putting in was really for. My entire summer was spent asking as many people as possible for advice on Friendship games. The more and more people talked to Reanne and I about it, the more pressure we felt. But I still did not know how much PCE as a whole cared about Friendship games. I just knew that everyone wanted us to win. I wanted us to win too, but I did not know how to do it. Yes we planned cheers, made props, filed paperwork, all those things and more, however to me I just did it because it was part of my obligation as events. In my perspective there was no purpose behind the work we were putting in. Even that Saturday morning, practicing in the parking lot of Sam’s Club I did not know why. I finally got that epiphany of why PCE cared so much about Friendship Games when we SPUFed with our first school. Our shirts,hats, props, cheers, and all came together. At that moment I knew why PCE loves Friendship Games, I could see the SPUF coming from every single person that made the long trip from SLO. We had arrived as SLO, one big caring and loving family. We stuck together as one. Through all the heat, dust and fatigue we persevered and continued to SPUF until the very end. Even after all the SPUFing was over, I had a little doubt looming in the back of my head. I kept pushing it away and not think about losing. I was only able to do because I knew no matter what happened everyone had fun and we stuck together through the adversity. I knew that we showed the adings what PCE was really about. I became okay with losing. When the SPUFing came to an end everyone congratulated us and reassured us it does not matter what happens. So when they announced us as the winners, it was really just icing on the cake. The dreams and hopes of everyone became a reality. All the hard work paid off and I finally gained the knowledge of what Friendship Games and PCE is truly about. Adings, general members, staff, hype, exec, Reanne, and everyone that believed in us when I myself had some doubt, Thank you for making this moment possible. Thank you for showing me what Friendship Games is all about. SLO will always and forever be SPUF champions.
