This year was the best ever. All our planned goals were achieved. The concept of youth managing themselves and taking responsibility for their decisions and outcomes is succeeding beyond all expectations. The kids believe in themselves and in what they are doing. Below are some of the major achievements: • Our four day training seminar was very successful .We now have enough certified instructors to recruit, select and train the 80-100 new junior leader candidates who will interview for the program. • We have moved our computer lab to the high school and are setting it up, so we can supply working computers to the 80 Ethiopian immigrant families who will be living in Ebim Absorption center, adjacent to Sderot, for the next three years. • The model UN program will double its size this year and hopefully expand its curriculum to conflict resolution. • 18 SYL families hosted the JLGB Israel Tour in July; the kids bonded beautifully... and most are still in contact in Facebook. The joint volunteering projects were challenging, useful and therefor meaningful for the British kids who performed brilliantly. All in all, we believe that they had an authentic meaningful and enjoyable encounter with the real SDEROT. • We have opened a new department... Project Management, thus enabling the junior leaders to expand the volunteering activities to new areas, establish contact with more community agencies, while learning how to efficiently plan and execute and evaluate their project. • All our members participate actively in the Israel Youth award... with the goal of fulfilling all the requirements for achieving the gold award. • Many of our kids were cited for academic, community service and scientific achievement on the local and national level.
