This years Swan Medal was held on Friday 3rd October at The Upstairs Bar and Function Centre at Steel Blue Oval, in front of a vocal and loyal crowd of nearly 200 players, supporters, sponsors and club staff Ryan Davis was awarded this years Swan Medal. Past Swan Medal winners in Clint Hampson, Craig Callahan, Mark Piani, Adam Lange, Travis Edmonds, Tallan Ames and 2013 medal winner Tony Notte were all in attendance. Davis won the Medal on 145 votes from Justin Simpson 106 votes, Davis did not have it all his way though with Simpson leading most of the night, but Davis had a strong finish to the season and in the end had a comfortable win. Third place went to Kirk Ugle on 65 votes followed by Adam Faulkner in 4th on 62 votes and Aaron Elari rounded off the top 5 with 61 votes. Ricky Cary was arwarded the League Leading Goal Kicker on 49 goals, whilst Nathan Blakely was named Rookie of the Year and Graham Jetta was awarded the Jack Hickling award for the Most Outstanding Player on and off the field. In the Reserves the results were a little closer with Jacob Burnham on 89 votes just edging out Jessie Manton on 87 votes , both played league games this season. Third place went to Rudy Riddoch on 66 votes, Ethan Hughes was 4th on 65 votes and Nathan Broad 5th on 54 votes. Marcel Wegglaar was awarded the 2014 Best Clubman of the year, Marcel is a tireless volunteer at the Swans and has been for a number of years, he is a life member of Past Players and Officials Association and is always ready and willing to lend a hand. Our Premiership Colts side had their award evening last week but the team and winners were acknowledge on the night. Alby Dean continued his collection of awards for the year after earlier taking out both the Jack Clarke Medal and Colts Coaches awards by winning the Colts Fairest and Best, Runner up was Ethan Maguire and Warrick Wilson was third. This year there was also a Best Backman Award which was won by Jack Watson and a Best Forward which was won by Neslon Ansey. Trent Cooper was named Colts Coach of the Year last month at the Jack Clarke Medal night. Our Womens team award winners were also acknowledge, the League side were back to back Premiers and the Reserves were Runners Up. The Fairest and Best for the League side was Kara Donnellan, the Reserves Fairest and Best was Courtney Ugle and the Youth girls winner was Kathleen Prosser. Congratulations to all award winners.
