This year’s National Day Parade will be a family affair for 47-year-old Madam Rosnah Binte Abdul Samad and her two daughters, Farah Hanis Ameera Binte Abdul Razak and Farzana Iman, as all three of them will participate for the same time as part of Swiber Singapore’s marching contingent. The catering executive has volunteered to take part and brought her two daughters along for the experience. “I love my sister very much and all of us are as close as triplets, thanks to this activity which has increased our bonding,” said Farah, 16 who attends Jurongville Secondary School with her sister. Rehearsals for the marching started every Saturday since April, and Madam Rosnah shared that training has kept all of them close though it is also tough and exhausting. “We are concerned about each other and will remind each other to get enough rest and drink more water before every rehearsal session,” according to the mother of three. Farzana who attended a National Education show two years ago, says she now better understands how much time and effort goes into NDP. The show was very exciting to her as a spectator and she admits she had no idea about the hard work behind the scenes. The family looks forward to participating in more future NDPs. “It’s a very exciting experience that allows us to make a lot of new friends, plus it comes with bonding that money can’t buy,” said Farzana.
