This young lady is terminally ill at just 29 - dying from a GBM - the deadliest brain tumour in the world - the same one that took our mum just 3 years ago... Rather than suffer any more pain she has made the decision to end her life on a designated date with the blessing of her family... She is not suicidal or wanting to die, in her thinking she is being realistic. Her story is thought provoking & is sure to spark widespread debate on the rights of the terminally ill to choose to die on their own terms with dignity, or be legally bound to die a natural death... no matter how much suffering is involved. It is a very complex issue & a very personal one I believe. Our mum fought & struggled & suffered so much every day of her brief 52 day battle with the insidious condition - it felt almost inhumane to watch her in so much pain physically & mentally & preside over her pain... I am not a supporter or a critic on the morality & legality of such issues one way or the other, just maybe I am an advocate for individual choice... I just know I would not want anyone to suffer as our beautiful Mum did during the duration of such an illness... definitely gives food for thought on such situations. To this courageous lady & her family, I hope the time she has left is of the most precious & special in nature & filled with quality & love & peace & contentment that will allow her to leave this life on her own terms & leave her family with beautiful memories that will make her passing a little easier to reconcile... xo
