Thomas Jefferson penned an immutable principle in Americas - TopicsExpress

Thomas Jefferson penned an immutable principle in Americas Declaration of 1776. This principle stated that government was created to secure the inalienable rights as granted by the Creator, and if government failed in securing these rights, it was the duty and obligation of the people to altar or abolish the government and institute such principles that will secure their life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. However, Thomas Jefferson did fall short in this one respect; if government is required to uphold rights granted by the Creator, common sense says that the magistrates who executive the laws of government must have a deep conviction in the Creator who granted those rights. On this point alone, atheists have no place in civil government. In fact, the only persons who could attain offices of public trust are those who can declare that God is Creator and Supreme Judge of their Declaration of Independence and that Jesus is our Lord according to their US Constitution. So when Thomas Jefferson thought the religious oath for public office was unnecessary, he failed in supporting his immutable principle as declared in the Declaration by godly men who could uphold the principle. Article VIII to the US Constitution restores the religious oath.
