Thomas wrote--Im a 53 year old male and I have been a RBKA since a factory accident in 1988 which smashed my leg almost completely off. The doctors actually sewed and reconnected my leg and was able to get blood flow. After 6 surgeries and battling staph infection I made the decision to amputate and get on with my life. This was a very hard decision to make because of the unknown factors. You just dont know! After I was fitted with a prosthetic leg and I was up and going I realized that I made the right decision. Now 26 years later I am still doing good. Other health problems have forced me to early retirement but I still walk good and most never know I have a fake leg unless I tell them so. I am hoping to help those who have questions, no matter how silly they may sound to you, and help any who want to know what to expect, in detail, and the struggles involved with getting going and what to expect long-term wearing a prosthetic limb. I am here to help in any way that I can. I would love to instill confidence in anyone who needs a word of wisdom to make their life easier!
