Thoofan ready for release on September 6 Thoofan, Ram Charan’s eye ball grabbing cop saga, is all set to release on September 6. The bi-lingual movie, releasing as Zanjeer in Hindi, also marks Ram Charan’s debut in Bollywood. Being a reboot of the iconic hindi film Zanjeer, that helped Amitabh Bachchan achieve cult status, Thoofan is surely going to make waves across the industry. The production house has confirmed that both Telugu and Hindi versions would release on the September 6. Ram Charan plays the role of an upright, honest cop who wages war against the oil mafia in the throbbing city of Mumbai. Ram Charan looks promising in the role of the tough cop, with Priyanka complementing the glamour quotient. Amitabh Bachchan, who epitomised the angry young man image in the cult classic has endorsed Ram Charan’s prowess and feels he can take the iconic role to the next level. Tweeting about Ram Charan, Amitabh Bachchan said “Ram Charan is a very proficient actor and I am sure he will do well”. Another speciality is that Thoofan is being released exactly after 40 years of the release of original Zanjeer, and Amitabh feels nostalgic about the change that this movie has brought into Bollywood. The movie is jointly produced by Reliance Entertainments, Adai Mehra Productions and Flying Turtle Films and is directed by Apoorva Lakhia, who has created quite a name for himself in B-Town. Priyanka Chopra plays the female lead along with distinguished actors like Srihari and Prakash Raj. This movie is a casting-coup of sorts, with several popular actors from both Bollywood and Tollywood portraying important characters. With Srihari playing the Telugu counterpart of Zanjeer’s Sanjay Dutt, the movie promises to be a high voltage drama. The trailer and promotional song, released some time back have already received great applause.
