Those PAP Ministers who keep saying Singaporeans with $1000 household income can afford to buy a 2 room BTO flat will have to check their brains. Using only CPF to pay the mortgage is one thing, but how could a household with income $1000 save enough for the first deposit/installment? Furthermore, even if they can buy that 2 room BTO (only 1 bedroom hor), how are they going to retire when all their CPF will be all dried up after 30 to 35 years of mortgage payment? Most importantly, it is Household PER CAPITAL income that is more important. A household earning $1000 with two children will hardly get ends meet! Even a household that earn $1000 with no children, just a couple, could hard get by. After deducting CPF contribution, how much is left? $830? Try to live with $830 for four persons, or even 2 persons for a month lah! Sometimes really wonder why these over paid Ministers can think of such out of touch things to say in public...haiz!
