Those Who Accept The Dualistic Concept Of The Immortality Of The Soul Will Never Receive Eternal Life Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (John 11:25) My Life Is In Your Hands - https://youtube/watch?v=5dB3IfjmhZ4 All of us human being are afraid to die. And that should be the case for all those created in the image of God. When God created mankind there was no intention for them to die. It was Adam’s transgression that brought sin into the world and created this dislike that we have for death. This statement from the writer sums up perfectly our feelings towards death. He said, “Human beings have an innate repulsion toward death because we were not created only to live and never to die.” Ever since Adaam died, Satan has been trying to warp the mind of men about the true meaning of death. So Satan has created a counterfeit concept regarding the state of the dead. The Bible is very clear that when a person dies they have no thoughts, emotions, works or relationships of any kind. This is support by King Solomon in Ecc. 9:13, 14 which says, “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.” So when a person dies, their body goes back to the dust of the group and their breath (which God breath into them) goes back to God. While the scripture is very clear, Satan has created the dualistic concept of the immortality of the soul. This concept gives rise to the ideas of ghost and spirits. This concept gives rise to our ability to speak to our love ones when they die. My friend, this concept was designed by Satan to pull mankind away from following after the words of God. This concept is a lie and we must pull away from it if we want to be saved in God’s eternal Kingdom. Those persons who try to consult with their love ones are actually speaking to Satan or one of the fallen angels. This morning the Lord is bringing to our attention that death is but a sleep. It is just a temporary interrupted along to path of eternal life. It is a temporary interruption between the mortal body and the immortal body. Jesus demonstrated that death is a sleep when He called forth Lazarus from the death. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Unless we allow Him to take full control of our lives, we will remain under the bondage of Satan and will lose out on being with God for eternity. I pray that we will continue to allow the Lord to lead us into the path of righteousness so that we can benefit from the gift that He has offered to us. Christ represents death as being a sleep to his believing children. Their life is hid with Christ in God; and until the last trump shall sound, those who die will sleep in him. (The Youth’s Instructor, April 6, 1899 – Ellen G. White) Upon the fundamental error of natural immortality rests the doctrine of consciousness in death--a doctrine, like eternal torment, opposed to the teachings of the Scriptures, to the dictates of reason, and to our feelings of humanity. According to the popular belief, the redeemed in heaven are acquainted with all that takes place on the earth and especially with the lives of the friends whom they have left behind. But how could it be a source of happiness to the dead to know the troubles of the living, to witness the sins committed by their own loved ones, and to see them enduring all the sorrows, disappointments, and anguish of life? How much of heavens bliss would be enjoyed by those who were hovering over their friends on earth? And how utterly revolting is the belief that as soon as the breath leaves the body the soul of the impenitent is consigned to the flames of hell! To what depths of anguish must those be plunged who see their friends passing to the grave unprepared, to enter upon an eternity of woe and sin! Many have been driven to insanity by this harrowing thought. What say the Scriptures concerning these things? David declares that man is not conscious in death. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Psalm 146:4. Solomon bears the same testimony: The living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything. Their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun. There is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10. When, in answer to his prayer, Hezekiahs life was prolonged fifteen years, the grateful king rendered to God a tribute of praise for His great mercy. In this song he tells the reason why he thus rejoices: The grave cannot praise Thee, death cannot celebrate Thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for Thy truth. The living, the living, he shall praise Thee, as I do this day. Isaiah 38:18, 19. Popular theology represents the righteous dead as in heaven, entered into bliss and praising God with an immortal tongue; but Hezekiah could see no such glorious prospect in death. With his words agrees the testimony of the psalmist: In death there is no remembrance of Thee: in the grave who shall give Thee thanks? The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence. Psalm 6:5; 115:17. (The Great Controversy, pg. 545, 546 – Ellen G. White)
