Those of us in Lake County, Illinois recently got our 2014 Real Estate Assessed Value notifications from the Chief County Assessment Office. In Lake County (like most, but not all counties in Illinois) we pay real estate taxes based upon the prior years valuation. I looked back at my old statements and my old Real Estate Tax Bills. While the assessed value of my home has gone down by $69,183.00 since 2007 compared to 2014, my taxes have gone up $2,074.06 comparing what I paid in 2008 based upon my 2007 assessment vs. what I am paying this year based upon my 2013 assessment. Somehow I just really do not want to see what Im going to pay in Real Estate Taxes next year for this years valuation.
