Those of us who use the Greenhills Road, Ballymount Road or roads - TopicsExpress

Those of us who use the Greenhills Road, Ballymount Road or roads in the nearby industrial areas on a daily basis will know how close they are to saturation. It is vital for traffic flow and for safety that the proposed re-alignment of these roads, including a new road from Limekiln Road to the Greenhills Road, goes ahead as soon as possible. I have been seeking to push this at Council level and beyond. Here is the latest update. MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM/TEMPLEOGUE-TERENURE AREA COMMITTEE Tuesday, October 14, 2014 QUESTION NO. 8: Councillor D. Looney To ask the Chief Executive if there has been any progress on the plans for the Greenhills/Ballymount/Robinhood Realignment Scheme; to ask the current funding position for this scheme; to ask how it is proposed to bring the scheme forward in the time ahead? REPLY: As previously advised, separate Part 8’s and CPO’s were approved for the four sections (Calmount, Robinhood, Limekiln and Parkview) of this Scheme between 2006 and 2008. Since then the acquisition of lands necessary to construct this Scheme has been progressing, with terms for the latest acquisition currently being finalised, funding for which is being provided directly by SDCC. Funding to progress the detailed design, site investigations and construction contracts has not been secured due to the current economic difficulties. However should the necessary funding be secured it may facilitate the advancement of the overall scheme either section by section or in one bundle over the coming years.
