Those of you blasting my feed about what I said about #Benghazi, - TopicsExpress

Those of you blasting my feed about what I said about #Benghazi, take a breath. I have said that INVESTIGATING FOR THE 8TH TIME is a waste of money. The narrative couldnt be any more clear as to what happened that led to this tragedy, why there was confusion in the aftermath, and quite frankly what needs to be done to prevent another set of mistakes like this and reduce the likelihood of more who serve bravely in the most dangerous places on the planet are protected adequately. I will always rely more on the investigation of the Select Intelligence Committees - I was a special duty intelligence officer for my entire military career. Those Committees have the highest of security clearances for a resason - its so that even the most sensitive of operations can have oversight from Congress, and it gives those involved in such operations the opportunity to be transparent and accountable to Congress - members with high enough clearance that those involved are free to testify without watching every word. I accept the conclusions of the Intel committee in no small part because I believe they have seen far more than anyone else, I believe they receive more candid testimony, including from covert operatives that cannot testify before ANY OTHER COMMITTEE. It is not reasonable to expect the national security apparatus to tell us, the citizens everything they know - to do so would risk revealing sources, operatives and methods and that is VERY DANGEROUS. Our measure of accountability comes via the Congressional Intel Committees. The House Committee that issued that report was controlled by Republicans and the report was authored by Republicans. Had this come from the Senate Committee I might feel differently. My heart hearts for those families who have suffered as a result of this - but continually attempting politically motivated investigations that conclude the same thing is fruitless. This is too serious to be lumped with the IRS, the VA, the apparent new scandal at CFPB. The focus needs to be on State and DoD getting in a room with CIA and preforming a TOP TO BOTTOM review of Diplomatic post security and protocol for having the right resources in the right places at the first sign of trouble. Its not trying to shoot the moon trying to find deliberate personal failings - the problems were systemic and bureaucratic in nature and we lose the real failures by the conspiracy theories and trying to politically attack people. What is clear to me is the most hysterical in the bunch have not read the Intel report and its appendices. I respect those who clearly have and disagree with me on a substantive basis. I didnt come to this view lightly and unlike some who only agree to express their opinions on these with those who naturally agree with them, Ive shared my on Fox and Glenn Beck.
