Those of you living in the St. Louis area have a once in a lifetime opportunity to see some historic documents and artifacts from the Louisiana Purchase .They are on display at the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park until April 19. As part of the 250 th birthday of St. Louis. The original Treaty of Cession of 1803 , transferring ownership from France to The United States is on display . It contained 828, 000 acres for $15 Million , about four cents an acre and doubled the size of the country. Also on display are relics from Lewis and Clark , including Clarks rifle and the Elkskin Journal they kept on their exploration west. Remember ,the Museum used to be called The Jefferson Memorial and the Worlds Fair was the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904. Meriwether Lewis was President Jeffersons personal secretary before he was commissioned to make the exploration journey . I wish I could see this exhibit , dont miss the chance .
