Those of you on a Facebook crusade to pass off the recent leaked - TopicsExpress

Those of you on a Facebook crusade to pass off the recent leaked celebrity pictures by hackers on 4chan as being an act of anti-feminism, stop. You are merely pointing out the side effects and circumventing the real issue entirely: accountability. In the iCloud terms and conditions everyone read before using their service, it states (underlined and in all caps): APPLE DOES NOT REPRESENT OR GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE FREE FROM LOSS, CORRUPTION, ATTACK, VIRUSES, INTERFERENCE, HACKING, OR OTHER SECURITY INTRUSION, AND APPLE DISCLAIMS ANY LIABILITY RELATING THERETO. If you don’t like the terms, then don’t use their service! For someone of Emma Watson’s status and massive wealth, maximizing privacy should have outweighed the benefit of maximizing convenience. She should have taken greater precaution in handling files she doesn’t want leaked. All the information necessary to make a logical decision on how to best secure her private material was displayed on her computer screen. She clicked “I agree” and willingly uploaded her pictures to Apple’s server. Emma Watson is guilty of taking unnecessary risk. Hackers are guilty of hacking. If you want to use this occurrence to start a discussion about Apple’s accountability or lack of security, that would be relevant. Now, trying to pass off someone stealing valuables from a rich person to make money or gain status within their community as a direct attack on feminism, that would be what you protest Fox News for doing. 4chan does not specifically target feminists. It’s a troll site for people with a certain kind of humor. Some of their members are hackers. That’s all. Please look beyond the issues that are important to you and look at the chain of events that led up to this and see the story from the full perspective.
