Those of you who have followed my postings on Kashambuzi you will have noticed that I have inter alia tried to stimulate discussions to bring all Ugandans together. We as Ugandans especially in government have made errors. Pointing a finger all the time is not a solution. The war between Obote and UPC on the one hand and Baganda on the other hand is counter productive in the end. We know errors were made on both sides. Forcing the central government to quit Buganda in nine days in May 1966 was a big mistake and Baganda must accept that. UPC should have negotiated with Katikiro and his cabinet that did not agree with the decision Lukiiko took in a hurry. This is a lesson. Being rigid all the time as Baganda have been is not the wisest thing to do. Baganda you need to realize that times have changed. I know I am going to be insulted for saying this. But Uganda today is different from what it was in 1962 and earlier. You wont turn the clock back. Scotland understands that lesson. Instead of focusing on what Obote did look at what harm Museveni is doing to you today whether or not Museveni was created by Obote or not. Baganda you need to adapt or you will get marginalized and possibly die. De Clerk a South African white leader with a longterm vision advised white population that if they did not adjust to the changing circumstances they would die. They adjusted and are doing well under a black majority government. Duncan Kafero who insists Baganda must fight and not negotiate with the rest of Uganda and NRM government dismisses everyone who has a different view..He is like Michael Mutagubya who is living in the past that cant be emulated but can help to draw lessons on the way forward. This is from the bottom of my heart. Politicians who seek Baganda votes would not say this. They would say what Baganda want you to hear like Benon Biraaro said recently to get Baganda votes. My politics is of a different kind and is derived from my spiritual upbringing to work together to solve common problems. The recent appointment of Ssemogerere to head the new body following the national convention on electoral reforms should be read with a grain of salt as the promotion of Katumba Wamala as Ugandas army commander. This is window dressing similar to Like and Binaisa elections. Happy Holidays.
