Those of you who know me know that sometimes I dont feel so - TopicsExpress

Those of you who know me know that sometimes I dont feel so Friendly Consider yourself warned. So I deleted a post on Sunday from someone I normally wouldnt call attention to for the sake of our members but then I thought to myself. We all deal with this type of judgment and sometimes you just have to say something. Even if the unnamed Perp will never “get it” ,at least I would have spoken up or maybe, just maybe, enlightened someone else. Please feel free to insert Friendly sarcasm anywhere in the thread below and do keep in mind that this person has been renamed Anonymous. No one deserves the publicity for shaming and I hope you can forgive me for calling attention to it and sort of doing the same. Dear Anonymous, First off I think it’s disgusting you choose a celebration thread of someone losing over 100 lbs. to insert your shame and judgment on my Friendly page. That post was to congratulate someone on their hard work and to cheer them to keep going. That person is eating right, exercising and working hard at not being a victim of obesity and all the angst that goes with it. Clearly you feel you are perfect and maybe just a tad in denial thinking that you might actually have encouraged someone. I felt your comment on that thread was shameful and a common problem anyone who has ever been obese deals with every day. I’m curious of how many people in your inner circle come to you for advice on support and advice on leading a healthy lifestyle, and just how many of them have battled obesity and issue with their health? Do you even know what a Bariatrician is or what the term Bariatric stands for? Please forgive me for being less than “Friendly” but do you think people actually want to be cut open and re-rout their intestines or have a foreign object placed in their bodies, risking their lives and health complications? I guess the question I would like for you to think about is, ”What would it take for you to reach a final breaking point to make such a drastic decision to have surgery? Would you after all your hard work appreciate a comment like yours after all your hard work and risk? Especially after losing over 100 lbs. Now, I don’t want you to worry. We all are human and have weird days we just say the wrong things and make mistakes. So I want you to know I took the liberty of deleting your post to save you from embarrassing yourself. I’m sure you are a kind and compassionate person whom tries to motivate people around them to live a healthy lifestyle. Should you after reading this have a change of heart or kind word to say my door is open to anyone really wanting to learn and support people battling obesity. I would be more than willing to help you understand more about the hard work it take to maintain and the mental aspect of surgery. Although Im not a guru. However, on the off chance you were looking to bully a great group of people whom are trying to get healthy. Let this serve as a reminder that our Friendly forum is free from shaming and mental abuse. Bariatric Friendly is more about celebrating someone’s hard work and thanking the people who take a small part of their day to share, encourage and be sincerely happy for anyone trying. The world is hard enough. Yours in Health, Jocelyn Guillot 9 year post op RNY -170 lbs PS I personally want to thank you for the reminder of how far I have come. My house is spotless and Im sure any WLS patient reading this knows what I mean. :-)
