Those pushing for Chuuks independence also need to answer this. Millions of dollars directed to socio economic development in Chuuk failed to create a satisfactory level of development. In spite of large sums of money, and some investment activities over the years, we still do not have a sustainable economy. How would changing political status, such that Chuuk is by itself in an independent republic, going to be the answer to inherent inabilities? Are we blaming our inclusion in the federation as the culprit as far as our economic status, and our inability to capitalize on funds provided as part of the hoist of assistance from FSM and other partners?
