Those societies that fail to provide the basic needs of humanity are unfit for speedy spiritual evolution. And those societies, that fail to address the evolutionary impulse of their members, are ignorant of the very purpose of human life. One needs a certain level of material security to survive as well as enough intelligence to understand and follow the teachings of the accomplished masters (or Gurus). In India, we have the problem of basic material security, while most of the Western countries suffer from evolutionary backwardness. In a nut shell, we Indians need more the grace of Mother Annapurna (for our material security) while West needs badly the grace of Shiva (for their evolutionary guidance). And thats the precise reason why spiritual luminaries like Swami Vivekanand and Maharshi Mahesh Yogi preferred to work more in those countries.
