Those that know me well enough are well aware that I have pretty much cut TV out of my life almost entirely. Cassie and I dont have a cable plan and honestly were both so involved in other task we never miss it. However, every now and then a show will come along that I hear so much about I just have to check it out. On Monday I finally started the much loved and praised True Detectives. The first episode didnt immediately suck me in like Breaking Bad did but it was still a compelling and competently made start.. My thoughts on the 2nd episode were pretty much: Okay, so things are heating up a bit and the character development is starting to take a few twist and So is the gratuitous nudity just here because HBO can do that or is it really needed to show me there is an affair going on? 3rd episode is when I started to feel the hooks sink in. Now I decided to take it easy for once on my Saturday morning (Me relax? I must be crazy!) and just finished watching the 4th episode. The complete tonal shift of the show and characters is spellbinding and complex enough but man oh man that ending was bonkers. Everything about this scene was just pure film making bliss. It was raw, intense, vicious, incredibly well shot, and the fact that this 8 minute tracking shot was done IN A SINGLE TAKE. Sure it took them 3 or 4 attempts but in the end what you see is what was shot, Not edited from multiple takes and not digitally aided. So yeh, Im hooked now. If you have not seen the show but want to watch the segment just be warned it has some spoilers. Also theres a good bit of F bombs being thrown around if that kind of stuff bothers you. Oh and blood, cant forget blood. https://youtube/watch?v=s_HuFuKiq8U
