Those that know us Sheehan Brothers know that our Martin is the man of words and hes brought me to tears again tonight after he posted the following about our ma. Its personal to him but he said I can repost and yes ma...we all miss you and thank you for us!! MUM I sat with the Rattle of your bones and the Drum of your heart for 9 months before I was born. And then, somewhere in the beautiful chaos of life we forgot how to share our songs in a good way. Both of us grew into who we were and there was less and less harmony in our voices. And for years we refused to listen, refused to share the rhythms of our lives, and so many songs turned to dust in our angry dry throats. And then illness began to rear its head and your music became coarse and sharp and twisted and pained. A cacophony of sound that jarred and drowned out the melodies. They were hard years. Then just at the end, you sat up in the hospital and you sang the song of your womb and I could join with you for that time. Together we once again remembered our connection and our song weaved new patterns and old patterns and new opportunities to talk, to sing, to dance in each others eyes and hearts. And then you passed into the ancestors and you passed into my heart and you passed into my breath so that whenever I speak, a part of my breath in everything I say is memory of you. I went back the day after the funeral and I sang 4 songs, with my drum at your grave. Not because you were there, you obviously werent, but out of respect for the beliefs you chose to have. And to show you who I was. I no longer needed to hide my song from you anymore. I dont miss you mum. You are more in my life than ever before. I talk to you now more regularly than I ever did. And each time I Rattle or Drum or Sing Or Talk or Breathe I am remembering you. I dont miss you, I celebrate you. I dont miss you, I Love you more than ever. I dont miss you, I am grateful for the life you gave to me. Thank you for your life. Thank you for your song. Thank you for me. xxxx By Martin Sheehan
