Those who know me know that I am a Nicholas Sparks fan; therefore, I had to go see “The Best of Me”. It did justice to the book. Yes that’s right, it is based off a book. After all the previews mention that. The movie wasn’t great but I still thought it was good; however, leaving “A Walk to Remember” as my favorite adaption of Nicholas Sparks’ book of the same title. Supposedly Paul Walker was slated to play the role of the older Dawson. I think James Marsden did a much better job just because of the roles that Paul Walker normally plays. Gerald McRaney played Tuck and did an excellent job. The movie is predictable in spots but still played out well. There were a number of women who cried in all the expected spots but what was funny, there were a number of people who obviously didn’t read the book. For the Nicholas Sparks fans, he definitely has a dark side but that has made his books very popular. If you like the movies made off his other books, you will like this one. I was surprised at the number of guys who were there. Just a side note, speaking of Paul Walker, if you haven’t seen “Hours”, you need to do so.
