Those who think the Lewes outrage was a bit of fun are either wilfully stupid, or totally unaware of the concept of a triumph. You dont have a triumph for a laugh. You have it to sanctify a victory, and secure your pre-eminence thru a visible display of power and majesty over the conquered. Many triumphs end in ritual slaughter to confirm this majesty and supremacy. The Lewes outrage was a classic triumph. It was an archetype. Those claiming otherwise clearly do not understand the power of symbols, and do not understand history, or empire. Empires require triumphs. The British Empire used to have them constantly. The people of Lewes are just keeping with that tradition, as their other ritual sacrifices are testament to. Just as loyalists burnt YES banners and Virgin Marys earlier in the year.
