Though I am glad DOMA was struck down because I actually remember when it was instituted, I am more concerned about the Voting Rights Act and 5th Amendement being gutted this week. I am angry that in order to block a very dangerous and oppressive law meant to undermine bodily self-determination last night in Texas, constituents were forced to SHOUT DOWN said politicians (some while being arrested). I send my love to my friends and couples who needed this, but we will never be free as long as we think "freedom" is something we ask for instead of TAKE. I send love to my friends and couples who needed this, but as long as the prison industrial complex is alive, we are not free. I send love to my friends and couples who needed this, but this changes very little of the discrimination I/we face daily. I send love to my friends and couples who needed this, but the United States militant nationalism is killing more brown people everyday while colonizing the Earth. I send love to my friends and couples who needed this, but wealth disparity continues to kill us here and around the world. I send love to my friends and couples who needed this, but this will not make any discernible dent in the amount of LGBTQI folks who commit suicide or who are murdered. I send love to my friends and couples who needed this, but this is just one fight of many, and I hope you fight as vehemently for the Voting Rights Act or ending state violence as you did for marriage equality. ♥
