Though it may come as a surprise, Ive never actually seen the Rankin/Bass Rudolph and Frosty holiday specials before this year. (By the by, stay FAR away from Frosty Returns. Despite excellent vocal talent, as sequels go, it ranks right up there with JAWS 3-D.) Looking at Rudolph, though, Im somewhat shocked at the portrayal of Santa Claus as, well, a total dick. Bigotry, handicap-shaming, verbal abuse, casual misogyny--to say nothing if his deficits when it comes to labor relations! Seriously, Im not making a joke here; I really want to know: How is this supposed to square with the customary portrayal of Santa as the perfect avuncular grandpa? Anyway. Heres a fun mashup.
