Though our national budget manifests education as the highest - TopicsExpress

Though our national budget manifests education as the highest allocated sector, the major goals are not being achieved because of unplanned use of money and huge corruption in this sector. The government is not being attentive enough to this issue. Only 29,213 crore takas were allotted in the education sector in 2014-15 fiscal year which is only 2.2 percent of our total GDP and 12 percent of our total budget. But it is lower in comparison to the allocation in the education sector in other SAARC countries and around half of the 20 percent of the total budget as suggested by UNESCO. In the running fiscal year Maldives has allotted 10.4 percent of its total GDP for education, India has allotted 3.1 percent, Pakistan has allotted 2.2 percent. States like Tanjania, Burundi, Togo and other Afircan countries have spent around 1/4th of their total budget in the education sector. Luxemburg spends 19050 US dollars per year for every student in that country and this is the highest rate of expenditure for education in the world. Then Switzerland, Norway, USA, Austria and Denmark gradually follows the order. But we have lack of political will to increase budgetary allocation in the education sector. - (See more at: daily-sun/details_Where-our-education-system-is-heading_1000_1_19_1_0.html#sthash.FV0S7vZ6.dpuf)
