Though the sun is shining its another day, one where I headed - TopicsExpress

Though the sun is shining its another day, one where I headed right down to the warmth of the Crystal Caves. I knew the Wizard was waiting down by the hearth fire, accompanied by three wise women in colorful attire. Their laughter was ringing down the halls, it had set the crystals to dancing along the walls. Almost as if they glittered to a lost melody, they flickered and swayed so beautifully. You know how infectious laughter can be, well by the time I reached the door it had infected me. They were laughing so hard, I knew theyd come up with a good plan. They were going to help Winter to understand...the boundaries of the seasons, and with good reason. Three times I let the knocker fall, yet no response did come. I had to wait for their laughter to subside, then it fell just once. I heard the latch slip from its groove, then a turning of the key tooth. Slowly the door swung open wide, and the Wizard called out, Come in Child, come inside. The energy of the room seemed so full of glee, I wondered what hed cooked up with the wise women three. Their eyes were filled with merriment, Gert and Mabs had their heads bent. Shoulders shaking from their mirth, and Bell sitting there smoking for all she was worth. The Wizard had his pipe lit too and from it a long drag he drew. The two of them exhaled in perfect time, blowing smoke rings that entwined. Somehow I knew it was their way to solidify an agreement made. This was their business and I did not pry, for upsetting Winter I cannot deny, I want no part of their magical arts. Ill leave this game to them. I took the only remaining open seat and settled myself in. The subject changed as they pulled themselves together. Well, said Bell as she turned to me, hes sent us even colder weather and thats not funny. How did you fair coming to the caves? Was it a difficult journey that you made? I shook my head, No, I bundled up well, I think the cold is here to stay a good spell. She threw her head back in mirth. Ha! Spell indeed! We have one to return his way, it will bring him to his knees. Then she cackled rather loud and the others couldnt help themselves. Echoes rang throughout the room, and settled amid the shelves. The Wizard mentioned something interesting, he said that Echo and Agnes were on their way, and that Adalayne would be joining us the following day. Then he mentioned Spring and Summer would accompany her. It seems this is going to be all against one brother. Oh stars, I wonder if I should stay home, and tell my friends to do the same. I dont know if we need to be in the line of fire when you start this game. The Wizard scowled and said: We started nothing, this wasnt us. Hes the one that began the game and has made everyone have to fuss. Oh Child you and your friends are safe, weve bantered this way all of our days. No need to worry, well just make him cuss...and give him equal to what he gave us. Then he began to chuckle again, tossed a log on the fire and straightened to stand. Its time, he said, for us to depart. Just then, through the door poked a great green head, he gave us all quite a start! The Green Dragon smiled a crooked smile, soot rising from his snout. The Dragons await you down in the Cobalt Cavern, for brimstone they hunt about. Please bring some with you when you come, their hungering for it on their tongues. And a moment later he withdrew, it seems he had no more news. So we took to the passage and on the way, stopped by the storeroom where 5 bags of the sulfur lay. We each took one upon our shoulder and continued on our way...after the Wizard locked the door, he wasnt about to let the Dragons into his store. He led the way followed by we four. As we arrived at the Cobalt Cavern there were Dragons everywhere. Some were sniffing along the crevices others flitting about in the air. When they saw the Wizard in the entrance where he stood, they began to perch themselves wherever they could. Good morning my winged friends, weve brought you all a treat. Theres enough to go around, so please stay in your seats. We deposited the contents of our sacks into several piles upon the sandy floor. Then each of us stood well back. There you go, friends, have what for. At that they all dove for the piles and within moments their treats had gone. Licking their lips they tipped their heads, releasing little flames from their tongues. Satisfied for now they returned to their perches. The only one to remain was the Green Dragon standing stoic as if on a stage. Thats when Bell leaned close to my shoulder while the Wizard, Gert and Mabs found comfortable boulders. The Green Dragon is going to lead the prayers today, and teach a technique to weave the energy. Well wait for our other friends to arrive, come, lets go sit with those three. So we took our seats and in silence sat. We watched the Green Dragon with focused attention. He seemed to like that all eyes were on him, of course he would not choose that to mention. He was stretching his neck and swinging his head as if in exercise. Then he lowered his chin upon the floor and slowly closed his golden eyes...here in silence we all await. Each thinking of our prayers and intentions for the day. My mind has drifted a time or two, I must admit. Im curious about the Green Dragon and the lesson he brings us as a gift. See you when you get here!
