Thought Id share this ambitious construction of one of my neighbors. Seeing this reminded me of something from way back, that might prove a good strategy for CCfC: I lived in this same house some 2,5 years ago, and at the time I seemed to be the only one bothering with feeding the cats. This time, however, it appears there are several people around the block both feeding and building little cat-houses (even if those houses usually dont get to stand undisturbed for very long). But heres the thing: When I left 2,5 years ago I gave a large bag of leftover cat-food to one of the kinder shop-keepers, with instructions to give out kitty food to his customers. Id like to imagine that some of the people looking out for the cats now got started through a free portion from that big bag. That first bag of kibble may be the ice-brekaer, that makes people realize the condition of the cats in their street, makes them pay attention to individual cats and even make a few furry friends. Once you cross that threshold there really is no going back. It might be a smart (and sneaky?) thing to fill a few bag with small portions of kibble and leave by peoples doors, with a printed greeting and instructions to join a FB group for the neighborhood cat-guardians, and maybe work together on trapping and neutering to get the cat population under control.
