Thought. Teachers We are all teachers, we all constantly teach each other and learn from each other. We also judge and seek judgment from others. We look to others to confirm our own goodness or lack thereof. It takes years to stop letting others control us or teach us bad ways. With children it is even harder. The average child believes that what is happing is what should be happening. Without good teachers kids simply have a hard time growing up good. When we see a person being abused it is hard to interfere, when we see or know an abuser it is very hard to confront. But remember this, an abuser is teaching that abuse is what should be, that abuse is ok and right. By seeing this and doing nothing we are agreeing and confirming that lesson. We who see and know of abuse agains the innocent are responsible to take action to stop or minimize it. This is where our faith, love, courage and compassion is tested and proved. In essence faith, love, courage and compassion is dead without action. When someone does evil and we chose to do nothing we let them kill our very hearts. Further when some one does evil they bring shame to themselves and try to put that shame on the victim, when we do nothing we help them to heap shame on the righteous be remaining silent. In this our silence brings us a fair share of the shame if the situation. To me the living Christian who wishes to stay righteous and to remain spiritually alive must oppose the evil of their fellow man. And to put this in perspective. As a child i was abused and as a sober man i learned to heal and over come my past. I learned that my abusers were themselves abused and i learned that those who stood by silent were scared and lost. But as a child i knew three things, i was being hurt, i wanted it to stop and no one stopped it. Those three undeniable facts have never been forgotten. Hard lessons that i want no part of teaching to another generation. God bless and strengthen each of our resolve.
