Thought about giving working trials a go? Trials are a fascinating aspect of dog sports to get involved with, but they are very time consuming, and they are not called trials for nothing! It can be very frustrating when you have spent months training, traveled hours to a trial, only to have your dog stand at the start of a track like its forgotten everything, or go off on a game trail, or round the side of a jump! and you know its another 6 months until your next trial! But on the other hand, there is nothing more satisfying than to successfully complete a completely unknown track, with you and your dog working as a team, and to gain that elusive qualification. The other great thing about trials is that everyone is rooting for you! Because the main focus is on qualifying, rather than competing against others, everyone - from the tracklayers, to the judge, to the other competitors WANT you to succeed, and everyone appreciates the work and effort that have had to be put in to succeed.
