Thought and Poem – September 18, 2014 Attitudes can be like rainy days. Some days, our attitude can pour down on us and we get drenched in our own sorrows. Other days our attitude may be like a quick afternoon thundershower when someone “dumps” the rains of their problems along with their attitude on us. Then there are the rains that come and refresh the air and we feel our attitude warming up and it can be like “sunshine” on rainy days. Bad attitudes are all about clouds of darkness that try to keep the sun from shining even after the rains stop. No matter what we have going on in our lives or around us, a good attitude; a positive attitude can help us to power through anything that comes our way and can also help us see sun-shining solutions or distractions that will help us endure our present stormy situations. Then there are the times when our life experiences when dealing with the “rainy days,” can help someone else turn their bad attitudes into positive ones. These are like the days where the clouds hang overhead for a bit and a strong wind comes and blows them away and we never see the rain. We start off expecting the worst storm of our lives and someone calls us or sends us a card and are just what we need to allow the sunshine to peek through the clouds of troubles we are facing at the moment. What about you? Does your attitude rain down so hard that it snuffs out any energy you may have to put up an umbrella? Or is your attitude cheered on by the positive sunshine you see even when the sun isn’t out? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst Sunshine on Rainy Days Our lives could always be worse, so we must try not to complain, Look for ways to be content and a positive attitude to maintain. Look for the good in what you have and not cry about what you don’t, Things can turn around in a heartbeat, so never give up hope. We don’t know what is planned for us, in the next days to come, We might learn something good and want to share what we learned with someone. Lessons to be taught are not always found in a book, Teach others from your life’s experiences, and into the life experiences of another, don’t be afraid to look. The sun can still shine, even on rainy days, We determine the attitudes and outlooks we choose to let come our way, Spend a little time getting to know what is in your heart, It will help you find ways to share what you learn, and in bringing sunshine on rainy days, have a part. Think how if we shared the extras we have of our own, We can lighten another person’s woes, Our gifts could go a long way, For someone who may have it worse than us, to see the sunshine on their rainy day.
