Thought for the Day: Time is ongoing and each day presents itself - TopicsExpress

Thought for the Day: Time is ongoing and each day presents itself with certain opportunities. These opportunities may not stay open forever; therefore, it is imperative that we make wise decisions and take advantage of opportunities while the window of opportunity is open. Stories are told of the days when Alabama’s shores touching the Gulf of Mexico could be bought cheap. After all, nothing much was down there and what could you do with all that sand? Certainly, you could not grow much down there or build anything because sand does not make for a good foundation. Of course, those who saw the window of opportunity to be open, purchased the cheap sand became wealthy. People began flooding to the beach for sun and fun; and, someone figured out house to build not only houses but condos on the sand. We have big opportunities in life and small opportunities in life. Some matter a lot and others matter only a little. We also have opportunities to do evil and unfortunately, for whatever reason we take some opportunities that we ought not to have taken and show that we are still a long way from being perfect. The people during Jesus’ time had a grand opportunity to hear Him, see Him, speak to Him and believe in Him. Some took advantage of the opportunity while others took the opportunity to rebuke Him and seek to do Him evil. Whatever their decision was, the window of opportunity was not open for long. Today, we also have two windows of opportunity. We have the opportunity to reject Jesus and His offer. We also have the opportunity to receive His offer to repent and turn to Him for forgiveness of our sins. The window is now open; but, does not remain open forever. Scripture for the Day: John 7:32-35a, 36 The Pharisees heard the crowd muttering such things about him, and the chief priests and Pharisees sent temple police to arrest him. Jesus then said, ‘I will be with you a little while longer, and then I am going to him who sent me. You will search for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come.’ The Jews said to one another, ‘What does he mean by saying, “You will search for me and you will not find me” and, “Where I am, you cannot come”?’ Let Us Pray: Lord, forgive me for the times when I took the window of opportunity that lead to sin, rejecting your way. Help me this day and each day to take the right window of opportunity that leads to Christ, to forgiveness and to eternal life. Amen.
